The search for new possibilities to reconnect, relate, and
learn with nature is urgent in this climate crisis. We
live with the results of a colonized and imperialist society,
that frequently sees the world through the lenses of
possession and exploration. But today we face the
consequences of this way of thinking that shaped our society.
When we look at nature, collaboration and balance are
everywhere. There is no prejudice or individualistic
exploration.
Could a new relationship between society and nature be
possible? How could we reshape our way of life? How do we as
artists and designers learn from nature and prototype new
possible futures?
From growing a SCOBY culture and later photographing it, there
are already a lot to observe and learn. Giving only as an input
the tea choice and the glass, but leaving the culture to grow
the bio-cellulose in their timing and colors. I only
removed the bio-cellulose from the liquid and left it to dry,
shaped by time and losing water. Later I created a series
of photos of the tiny creations.
